So much of this resonates with me, although I haven't even tried to go to church since college. Instead, I've been singing Sacred Harp - have you heard of it? The roots are southern revival, so the lyrics are a mix of "wow the human experience is so universal" and "hmm I don't believe in that" for me, but the capacity for soul moving experiences is immense. And there's no sermon, just singing.
